The Virtual Bodyguard consists of a core team of its own employees as well as a network of communication specialists, lawyers, IT security experts and psychologists - grown since 2007. This network is our capital. Our contacts are confidential. At the beginning of a mandate, our clients get to know the relevant team members personally, and it is their privilege to determine who works on their mandate.

Martin Hellweg

Martin Hellweg typically leads and coordinates Virtual Bodyguard projects. In this context, he typically accepts responsibility for tasks in the fields of communications, IT security and privacy protection and general approach tactics. In particular, he is active in emergency situations arising from a digital attack. |
In 1998, as a crisis manager in Brazil, Martin Hellweg conducted his first forensic data analysis as part of a financial fraud case. Later on, he was engaged by businesses and individuals who saw themselves exposed to an attack on their reputation and privacy. As a Board Member and CEO of several publicly traded and privately held companies in crisis situations, Martin Hellweg was himself challenged by privacy and reputation attacks. In doing all this, he gathered a ample experience in this field over the years.
Martin Hellweg is author of the book "Safe Surfer - 52 tips to protect privacy in the digital age" (to be released in 2014).

Sam V. Furrer

Besides leading and coordinating projects, Sam V. Furrer focuses on the fields of communication and psychology as part of his work for the Virtual Bodyguard. Sam V. Furrer furthermore performs preventive training and coaching sessions in the area of reputation and privacy protection. |
Sam V. Furrer studied economics, psychology and information management. Over the last 12 years, he held several executive management positions and took responsibility, among other things, for the areas of corporate communication and media relations. In these functions, he gathered extensive experience in dealing with print and online media - some in extremely challenging crisis situations.
Sam V. Furrer was active in the areas of Change Management and Management Development, accompanied executives as a trainer and coach in mastering difficult communication situations and has a ample negotiating experience. He delivers razor-sharp analysis of complex negotiation situations or conflict situations and develops tailor-made, sustainable and effective communication strategies. He can act as an empathetic bridge builder as much as a mediator.

Lars Sander

Lars Sander is the Virtual Bodyguard specialist for technical questions. He designs and implements the security and privacy infrastructure for our clients. He also develops overall technical concepts, and implements them. This includes training sessions for our clients and their environment. |
Lars Sander studied computer science and IT management and acquired various security and framework certificates (CISA, CISSP, ITIL, COBIT, etc.). Combined with over two decades of professional experience in information technology, he gathered a wealth of experience and extensive knowledge, particularly in the area of IT security.
As an external security manager, he was regularly involved in in IT crisis situations of leading international companies from the banking, transportation and chemicals sector. He successfully defended his clients against malware attacks or any compromise of established confidentiality levels.
As part of his role in Virtual Bodyguard project teams, Lars Sander also tackles strategic and tactical issues from the perspective of the technology expert.
In his spare time, Lars Sander practices endurance sport and is engages in the design and conversion of motorcycles.
